Pre-Halloween catchup

Dear Blog,

So this year, I'm doing much less than I normally would in the ways of typical Halloween activities. My costume this year consisted of a cool t-shirt and some "bitchin'" sunglasses. Yeah, I slicked my hair back, wore my red t-shirt that says "People Know Me" and added the fierce Miami Vice-esque shades. I was Bitchin'!

Saturday, we went out to this awesome place called The Bubble Lounge. Naturally, it specializes in champagnes and sparkling wines. They have a full bar, but the bubbles are the thing. Anyone who knows me, knows I love sparkling anything. If it's carbonated, I'm loving it.

The DJ downstairs in the cool basement was kinda' shitty, but the venue is gorgeous. It's only a few blocks from where I work, and near the TransAmerica pyramid. Why is it that I've not found a resident DJ in this city who can actually mix two songs together without a subtle train-wreck in-between? Austin spoiled me, I am finding out when it comes to music. I shouldn't be surprised.

Anyway, the bartender didn't charge me for all my drinks, so I was a happy camper. Paying $10+ per glass was fine for a special occasion, but not having to pay for them all was endearing. I will visit this place again.

Last night, Jen and I went to a co
ncert at The Great American Music Hall. This place is one of my favorite smallish venues now. It's got ornate carved detailing on every surface, except the columns of the interior Corinthian-style topped columns. The columns however looked like a dark and lovely chocolate and espresso colored marble.

The show was for Scissors for Lefty, a group Jen introduced me to. They're young and fun, kinda' sexy, but just the right about. What made me buy the ticket within seconds of hearing about it was the fact that Kid Beyond was also going to be there. I fell in love with this man and his mouth (he's a beat boxer, get your mind out of the gutter) in Austin last fall. He was an opening act for Imogen Heap. Needless to say, if she thinks that highly of him, then he has to be good. He delivered again.

Kid Beyond's latest release: Amplivate

Awesome show, lots of candy thrown to the crowd (yay!), and then a nice calm bus ride home. I got a signed t-shirt from Kid, when I noticed he was standing next to me while the show was ending. He's so down-to-Earth, and that's refreshing compared to my serially bad celebrity run-ins in Austin.

love,

Cade

P.S. Kid Beyond is also hella' hot, inside and out. Hearing him speak his mind and heart on a few topics both through his music and between songs is inspiring.
